... croci

Spring is here and delicate, shy sprouts bud everywhere. I had a day off today and I was walking about and listening to the birds sing, it was stunning. I thought it would be nice to take some pictures, which I did, even though I still haven´t got my birthday present camera (which I´ve heard is stuck somewhere in the East) and had to settle for my old matchbox-sized gadget. Here are some of the photos I took.
Tussilago farfara - the ugliest phrase I´ve heard for a while XDD
I noticed the butterfly only after I had taken the photo :)
I love the dreary roadsides of Vantaanlaakso.
Sticks on asphalt
Crocuses - croci - crocuses. I love to swagger with Latin plural forms.

Snow has not yet entirely melted...
Wood anemones have only just vegetated

... Easter glee

Happy and blessed Easter to everyone! I  know, I´m a bit late, but I have allowed myself to take it easy on Easter holiday. I have been visiting my family - I have now moved to Helsinki to dance - and I am so thrilled by the coming spring! In Helsinki, in the middle of the urban landskape, you can´t really notice melting ice and altered light as sharply as amongst the leafless trees and muddy ground.
Kaisla with our flegmatic cat Nefernefernefer (name by the character in Sinuhe the Egyptian)
My friend Kaisla visited Vesivehmaa with me, and one day of our holiday we noticed that we were wearing odd colthes (we were going to supermarket, our pathetic holiday amusement), so we organised a "fashion" photo shoot with random stuff: cat, my wig, accessories from my garderob, cattle shed and Musti... Crazy (but not cool). Hope you like :D
We changed coats. I gave Kaisla my fake fur pink coat, and got this perfect parka from H&M.
jacket: Kaisla´s old
earring: H&M
necklace: dived
stockings: H&M, ring: self made
I got these l-o-v-e-l-y 70s platform shoes in a vintage swap that was organised with the vintage cars happening by our neighbour. I was astonished when I tried them and they fitted! I have foot sized 40 (or 9 in US), so very few vintage shoes fit me.

I don´t smoke, but I´d liked to, for the coolness
my ring: Gina Tricot
my shoes:second hand, UFF

Weird picture. I like it.
60s shirt and skirt: tuned second hand
I have to show off: The 60s outfit costed only one euro in a flea market. I just cutted the hem of the skirt and and shortened the top to create a crop top effect.

Neffi is the silliest and cutest cat I know. And the most flegmatic.

Foolish series with my hand approaching...

These last photos were a little bit Virgin Suicides, but luckily in a positive way. Maybe it was Musti that saved them  from artifice.

... ballads for April

I´m feeling all lyrical... And because I enjoy using English even when not asked to (even though I don´t feel too confident about my grammar), I wanted to translate from Finnish to English the superb lyrics of the song by an awesome finnish band I´ve only recently discovered - Pariisin kevät. It would be shame if those who can´t speak Finnish would miss them.

Migrating to the South

Soon here will be no one
Let´s run away before the summer
For a while, same familiar faces and an overly small cottage
I´ve got too much of everything and
a tv-license
Here, nobody knows things could be better

Jump in and everything will still be viable
Let´s drive
Let´s escape like we were characters from a movie
Well, I don´t know, maybe everything is
needlessly usual
Let´s run away driving
Let´s now search for something to boot this life
Pretend we were migrating to the South

Soon here won´t be us either
Everything ends before the summer
Disappears, a familiar face and
by accident
one stares at me from the front seat next to me

Jump in and everything will still be viable
Let´s drive
Let´s escape like we were characters from a movie
Well, I don´t know, maybe everything is
needlessly usual
Let´s run away driving
Let´s now search for something to boot this life

Soon here will be no one
Let´s run away before the summer

Well, I don´t know, maybe everything is
still viable
Let´s run away driving
Let´s now search for something to boot this life
Pretend we were migrating

Pretend we were migrating to the South

I have a thing about domestic music right now. So, if you please excuse me, for translating also the next song by the same band.

Island

We stand hat in hand on the edge of the world
We wait for everything to stop by a billow
Maybe it´d be easier if it was easier to be
If thoughts were not hurricanes but shooting stars

When I close my eyes I hear a scream: Run
over the water to the lost island

Don´t look back, there is someone breathing down your neck
Dance, dance, do not fear as the Death shoes his horses

When I close my eyes I hear a scream: Run
over the water to the lost island

God speaks to me on TV, street and car radio
I always take things seriously, though never actually care
I just want to love but don´t manage to lift my lids

When I close my eyes I hear a scream: Run
over the water to the lost island

And I start to run, but blood, it runs out of head down the veins
In the sky, the moon glows and reflects from the ice
Frequently, I have a bad feeling
I won´t survive
life

I imagine I see beings of the spiritual world everywhere
The Reaper is chasing me, we always share company
Maybe it´d be easier, if we could get to now each other just a little bit
But a voice in my head is warning: I may fall in love

And I start to run, but blood, it runs out of head down the veins
In the sky, the moon glows and reflects from the ice
Frequently, I have a bad feeling
I won´t survive
life

Enough about the Finnish now, go no with the Universal (=English).
I haven´t seen Kill Bill (not aiming to, either), but I love the mystery of this song.
Simply brilliant.
